The Many Lives of
Wingham Public School
Wingham's first public school was at School House Gully in 1864, just twenty years after the village was proclaimed.
The school moved to the bottom end of Isabella Street, near The Brush, and in 1898, became Wingham Superior Public School.
In 1930, the school was reclassified as a District Rural School, and in 1963, a separate High School was formed, and the school's originial name was restored.
Wingham Public School continued to expand until 1987, when a new campus opened on Murray Road, and the existing Isabella Street site became Wingham Brush Public School.
