Early History
Use the "Pre 1950" tab above to access the early years of public schooling in Wingham. Choose the 1800s and watch the school develop from a wooden building with 36 students, to the construction of the oldest brick school buildings in Wingham, which are still used today as part of Wingham Brush Public School.
From 1900-1940, the school expanded, eventually becoming a Rural District School. It was during this time that the double-story brick building which is now known as "Building B" (left) was added.
The 1940s was a decade of change for the world, and Wingham was no exception. The town, and the school, flourished after the end of World War 2. Click the 1940s link in the "Pre 1950s" tab to view stories, class photos, teachers and other memorabilia from the 40s.
Building B - Wingham Brush Public School dates back to the 1930s, when it was built as part of Wingham Rural District School. It continued to serve as classrooms, offices and school hall for Wingham Public School, until WPS relocated to Murray Road. Since then, Building B has been an important part of Wingham Brush Public School.
